Hobert (Snake) Reed Jr., 73, Indianapolis, IN passed away April 13, 2017.
He was born on July 1, 1943 to Hobert Reed Sr. and Geneva Reed (McFadden) in Memphis, Tennessee. Hobert moved to Indiana around the young age of 20 with his friends and took a job as a shoe repairman and soon became a master cobbler for the next five years until he was offered a position with the Indianapolis Public School system where he retired after 29 years as Head Custodian from IPS #37.
After moving to Indianapolis Hobert met his wife Imogene L. Reed (Briggs) and dated for 6 months before marrying September 15, 1968 and have been married 48 ½ years at the time of his passing.
Hobert loved all music, especially country western and down home blues. He was a true cowboy at heart. Those who knew him would immediately recognize him by his cowboy hat, fringe jacket and his red pickup truck. He was a joker and loved to have fun but was a very hard worker and loved his family very much. Even in his later stages of Alzheimer’s he would say to his wife “I gotta get up and go to work and take care of my family”, he did a great job and will be missed very much.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene Reed; his four children, Angel Sanders, Jerone Poe, Billy Haynes, and Hobert Reed III; siblings, Juanita, Robert, and Joyce; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hobert Sr. and Geneva Reed; daughters, Shawna Reed and LaTonya Reed.

Do not ask me to remember.
Don’t try to make me understand.
Let me rest and know you’re with me.
Kiss my cheek and hold my hand.
I’m confused beyond your concept.
I am sad and sick and lost.
All I know is that I need you
To be with me at all cost.
Do not lose your patience with me.
Do not scold or curse or cry.
I can’t help the way I’m acting,
Can’t be different though I try.
Just remember that I need you,
That the best of me is gone.
Please don’t fail to stand beside me,
Love me till my life is done.
